Our Coat of Arms says "Mexi/Cali Tierra Cálida" - hot land. Mexicali is situated in the middle of the desert far north in Mexico on the border to California and that explains the name of the city (MEXI-co combined with CALI-fornia). We have big manufacturing and agricultural industries, a large Chinatown, called La Chinesca, and a busy rail line.
